Overview

PromptGenius is a Chrome extension built by Jays Software. We take your privacy seriously. This policy explains what data we collect, how it's used, and what we never do.

The short version: we don't collect, store, or sell your data. Your prompts go directly from your browser to Anthropic's API using your own API key. We never see them.

What data PromptGenius accesses

  • ✦Your prompts — read temporarily to send to the Anthropic API for improvement. They are never stored on our servers. We never see them.
  • ✦Your Claude API key — stored locally in Chrome's sync storage, encrypted by Chrome. It is sent directly to Anthropic's servers. We never receive it.
  • ✦Your saved prompts & snippets — stored locally in Chrome's storage on your device only. Never transmitted to our servers.
  • ✦Your license key — verified against Gumroad's API to confirm purchase validity. We store only whether verification succeeded, not personal details.

What we never do

  • ✓ We never collect or store your prompts
  • ✓ We never sell your data to third parties
  • ✓ We never track your browsing activity
  • ✓ We never access websites outside the AI platforms listed in the extension
  • ✓ We never read page content outside of AI chat input fields

Third-party services

Anthropic (Claude API) — Your prompts are sent to Anthropic's API using your own API key. Anthropic's privacy policy governs how they handle API data. See anthropic.com/privacy.

Gumroad — Purchase and license key management is handled by Gumroad. See gumroad.com/privacy.

Permissions explained

PromptGenius requests the following Chrome permissions:

  • storageTo save your API key, model preference, prompt library, and snippets locally in Chrome.
  • activeTabTo read the prompt you've typed in the active AI chat tab so it can be improved.
  • scriptingTo inject the PromptGenius button into AI chat pages.

Data retention

All data (API key, saved prompts, snippets) is stored locally in your browser using Chrome's built-in storage. You can delete all data at any time by removing the extension from Chrome.
